Dealing with the loss of a loved one may be difficult, but feeling at home while you are going through it can make it easier.
The surroundings at Jacobson Funeral Home are comforting and uplifting. We can help ease the burden and make a difficult time easier.
In November of 2014 Jacobson Funeral Home announced the completion of their 1,600 square foot addition to the chapel area. Susan Jacobs, owner and funeral director is pleased to be able to better serve the community with more than doubling the size of the chapel that is used for visitations and funeral services.
The new construction began in July by general contractor ABC Contracting, David Bier owner. The work included local subcontractors and suppliers; Haataja Excavating, Baraga Concrete, Bianco’s Plumbing and Heating, Penokie Electric, Michel’s & sons Building supplies, Erickson’s True Value, and L’Anse Furniture Mart.
Over the time since Susan has owned the funeral she has gone thru some renovations which include making the facility handicapped accessible, converting the living quarters into an arrangement area and having casket selection room on the main level. A new garage was added on and so the body preparation area could be moved to the main level also.
Susan said, “I understand that some people don’t feel comfortable having to be at a funeral home, so trying to make them feel at home while they are there is important to me.” This area will be able to accommodate over 100 people for services, all in one room. “We are pleased to be able to continue to provide a home-like atmosphere within this new addition; and also added a food and beverage station”, said Jacobs.
We have remodeled the Jacobson Funeral Home in 2000 to meet the standards of the American with Disabilities Act, new barrier free entrance, bathroom and parking. We feel efforts like these, even if it's for a few people, will help us to better serve our community.
The Sharing Room at Jacobson Funeral Home is ideal for the sharing of memories, fellowship, and luncheons following funeral services. The Sharing Room is located inside the funeral home and is available FREE to the families and individuals we serve.
Jacobson Funeral Homes future plans include expanding the parking on the south side of the building.
