Albert “Sonny” Charles Kunick Jr., age 78 of Baraga, MI passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Bayside Village in L’Anse, MI.
He was born May 18, 1935 in Baraga, MI son of Albert and Florence (Sipe) Kunick. Albert married Carol Jolin on March 23, 1957 in Marquette. They moved to Milwaukee for a brief time and then resided in Marquette were they raised their family. He worked for the City of Marquette as a heavy equipment operator for over 30 years.
Albert enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, traveling, camping, snowmobiling, putzing in the garage, spending time with family, playing BINGO, and going to the casino.
Surviving are his mother Florence Kunick of Baraga; sons, Michael (Julie) Kunick of Gwinn, MI, Bob (Kim) Besore of traverse City, MI, Gerald (Dawn) Kunick of Seymour, WI; daughters, Patti (Lance) Larsson of Marquette, Sandra (Anthony Stefan) Norbury of Baraga, MI; brothers, Lloyd (Linda) Kunick of Nisula, Ronald (Louise) Kunick of Gwinn, William Kunick of Marquette; sister Barbara Anderson of L’Anse; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his father Albert Kunick Sr.; wife Carol Kunick; brother Gerald Kunick; and sister Mildred Maki.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 26 th from 1-2:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home will Rev. Judy Mattson officiating. The burial will be in the spring in the Baraga Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
