Alice Watchorn

Alice Marie Watchorn, age 85, of L'Anse, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Alice was born on April 14, 1940, in Baraga, Michigan, and was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Otto and Marna Carlson. She graduated from Baraga High School in 1957 and went on to pursue her calling in healthcare, earning her nursing degree from Northern Michigan University.

On September 12, 1959, Alice married the love of her life, James Watchorn Sr. She dedicated many years of compassionate service as a nurse at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, where she worked until her retirement in 2002. In 2010, Alice returned to the Baraga area, where she enjoyed being closer to family and community.

Alice was a faithful member of Most Holy Name of Jesus Church and was actively involved with KBIC, Ojibwa Seniors, and the Red Hat Society in Sault Ste. Marie. A devoted mother, Alice was activly involved in her three son's passion for hockey. She had a deep love for music and was an avid Elvis Presley fan, enjoyed watching the Grand Ole Opry, and found joy in gardening, crafting, hemming, and sewing kits. Alice was known for her caring nature - she always put her family first and had a special affection for animals.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Watchorn of Baraga; her daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Pieri of L'Anse; her brother, Ronald (Phyllis) Carlson of Duluth, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Michael Watchorn of Ferndale, Michigan, Alison Shores of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Jacob Watchorn of Detroit, Michigan, and Katie (Eduardo) Sarda of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; and her great-grandchildren, Grace and Ila Shores, Maximo and Marlena Sarda, Charlotte, Riley Jean, and Noah Hassan Watchorn.

Per Alice's wishes, no funeral services will be held. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family
