Almina "Red" C. Summers, age 83 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Bayside Village in L'Anse, MI.
She was born August 9, 1930 in Newberry, MI, daughter of William and Cecil (Emerson) Hollingshead. Almina married Clifton Summers who proceeded her in death on May 1, 1997. She and her husband worked for many years as dispatchers for many trucking companies.
Surviving are her children, Gloria Jean Anderson of Bark River, John Brown, Richard (Brenda) Summers of L'Anse, William (Denise) Summers of Tennessee, Jeffrey (Debra) Summers and Charles Summers of L'Anse. Her pride and joy was her grandchildren, Ricky, Pearl, Jennifer, Kenneth, Janel, April, Eric, Mychal, Dale, Mitchell, Jessica, and Brooklyn. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, her brothers Mic (Bobbie) Hollingshead, and Richard Hollingshead. Several nieces and nephews who fondly called her "Aunt Miney", and her loving dog Cody.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; sisters, Aida and Sally; brothers, Jerry, Bic, and Merv; and niece Georgia Pappel.
She will always be remembered by her grandkids for all the camping and road trips they went on in Gram and Grampa's motor home. Almina was very creative with crocheting beautiful dresses for dolls, afghans, pillows or whatever pattern she liked. She loved to shop, read, and watch TV; especially westerns and Duck Dynasty.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 5th from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, with Rev. Jerry Bishop officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
