L'Anse a�" Amelia Haanpaa, age 73, passed away Tuesday evening, November 10, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Amelia was born November 18, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of Ascencion and Consuelo (Abrego) Oyervides. She was raised in San Antonio and attended High School there. Amelia loved listening and dancing to her Mexican music, cooking and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Dannie A. of 50 years; two daughters, Connie (Tom) La Forest of Brillion WI and Martha Reyes (Terry) Haanpaa of Herman MI; two sons, Eric D. and Dannie V. Haanpaa of L'Anse; three sisters, Bertha Revuelta, Yolanda Corrales and Horentencia Gonzales of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Robert (Stella), Juan, and George Oyervides of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren, Steven O. Laforest, Laura M., Eric A., Robert J., Alicia R., Amelia, Ryan V. and Dannie J. Haanpaa; six great grandchildren, Braydon Peterson, Weston, Zoe, Shylah, Savanah and Aubrey Haanpaa. Amelia was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Steven Reyes Haanpaa.
Private services for Amelia will take place Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Jacobson Funeral Home, L'Anse, with Rev. John Longbucco officiating, burial will take place in Herman Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
