Andrew Arne Koski, age 23 of Aura, MI passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 in Marquette, MI where he had been residing for the past 6 months.

He was born December 31, 1990 in Hancock, MI son of Steven and Anne (Sands) Koski. Andy grew up in Aura, MI and graduated from L’Anse High School in 2009 then went to Northern Michigan University for 2 years. He worked for Indian country Sports, a short while for L’Anse Manufacturing, and last for No-Shank manufacturing.

Andy was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L’Anse. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, biking, hiking, camping, and engineering.

Andy’s short life he spent helping others in ways that even we don’t understand. Because of his epilepsy he became a patient for research spending hours and hours while in the hospital for surgery at the University of Michigan working with engineer technicians on new technology for a robotic hand for prosthesis and epilepsy research. He studied everything he could on this and hammered the doctors and engineers with questions to understand more. He was adamant about learning all he could about epilepsy to give himself the upper edge when the doctors talked with him and never let them leave without explaining.

To explore our wonderful outdoors was his favorite thing. There was nothing better to spend your free time at than being in the woods playing. Four wheeling through the mud, crossing our many rivers no matter how deep, hiking or riding the many back roads and trails, and camping, all with his good friends and brother and sister, brought more of a smile to his face than anything else.

Surviving are his parents, Steve and Anne Koski of Aura; brother Tom Koski of Wenatchee, WA; sister Kasey (Zeb Postelwait) Koski of Wenatchee, WA; paternal grandparents Roy and Eila Koski of Aura; niece Ruby Therese Koski; nephews, Xendrik and Kaolin Postelwait; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Ruth and Glenn Sands. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 16th from 5-8 PM at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be recited at 6:30 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 17th at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Aura Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
