Anne Marie (Zivcnyak) Johnson

Anne Marie Johnson, age 100 passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Portage Pointe in Hancock, MI.

She was born November 28, 1916 in Hamtramck, MI daughter to Joseph and Jelena “Helen” Zivicnyak. Anne graduated from Pontiac High School. She married Theodore Johnson on August 20, 1940 in New York City. They resided in Bloomfield Twp. where she worked as an Assessment Clerk for the twp. She has been residing in Aura for the past 30 years.

She was a member of St. Hugo of the Hills in Bloomfield, MI and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L’Anse. Anne enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, quilting, gardening, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Charity work was her life-long work. She always helped at children’s orphanages, homeless shelters, and feeding the hungry and helping families in need.

Surviving are her sons, Theodore (Janet) Johnson of Calumet, Stephen Johnson of Aura; daughters, Salli Gruca of Shelby Twp, MI, Mary Andrea Johnson of Fort Collins, CO; seven grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Theodore; daughter Susan Meinke; brother Stephen Terihoy; sisters, Lillian Zivicnyak and Kathleen Rhodes; son-in-law Jack Gruca.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery in Pontiac, MI. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Wounded Warriors. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L’Anse is assisting the family.
