Carolyn (Jane) Keranen, age 77, a long time resident of Alston, MI, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2008 in Tennessee.
She was born September 16, 1931 in Grayling, MI daughter to James & Effie Brown. Carolyn married Paul Keranen on August 19, 1960 in Grayling, MI.
Carolyn will be missed by friends and neighbors that she enjoyed many nights of playing Bingo and Cards with. She loved baking pies and cookies to give to others. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her and will be forever loved and remembered.
Carolyn leaves behind a son, Richard & Debbie Gere of Franklin, TN, and 3 daughters, Toretha Darrow of Perry, MI, Juanita & Val Washburn of Mio, MI, and Lisa & Tim Roth of Ishpeming, MI. Also, 5 Grandchildren, and 4 Great Grandchildren, along with a close friend and companion Donn Bonney, a brother Pat, and sisters Sally, Helen, and Donna.
Preceding her in death is her husband Paul Keranen, son Roger Gere, Grandson Glenn Ulbrich, and Great Grandson Tyler Darrow.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 11:00 A.M. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Rev. John Autio will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery. Following the services a luncheon will be held at the VFW Post 7646 in Alston. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
