Charles "Tom" Lofquist

Charles “Tom” Lofquist, age 60 of Baraga, MI passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at his home.

He was born January 12, 1955 in L’Anse, MI son of Charles and Florence Eileen (LaFernier) Lofquist.  Tom graduated from L’Anse High School in 1973 and was a great basketball player.  He then went into the United States Air Force.  Tom received an Associate Degree in Waste Water Management from Northern Michigan University.

Tom worked for the city of Waukesha doing waste water management, then worked security at the Island Resort and the Ojibwa Casino.

He was a member of KBIC and Ojibwa Seniors.  He coached Little League and enjoyed watching sports, fishing, shooting pool, cross country skiing, jogging, and was an avid Packer fan.

Surviving are his children, Jason Eliason of L’Anse, Dawn of Dollar Bay, Eric Lofquist of Wilson, Timothy Lofquist of Baraga, Angel (Patrick) Hazen of Watersmeet, Jesse Ekdahl of Zeba; brother Mike (Kristine) Lofquist of L’Anse, sister Joyce Fields of L’Anse; half-brother John Ridell, half-sister Faye Graber of Florida; grandchildren, Ethan McGeshick, Ailec Lofquist, Timmy Lofquist, Annileece Lofquist, Frank Medlin, Eric Lofquist, Thomas Lofquist, Georgia Lofquist, Luther Hebert, Breylin Hebert, Dori Hazen, Dari Hazen, Xavier Remer, and Ayden Ekdahl.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Visitation and traditional Native American rituals will be heldTuesday, July 7th from 2-6 p.m. at the Ojibwa Seniors Ceremonial Room in Baraga.  The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
