David Michael Sullivan Sr.

David Michael Sullivan Sr., age 66 of Alston, MI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 13, 2015 at his camp. He was born April 16, 1949 in L’Anse, MI son of Walfred and Betty (Connor) Sullivan. Mike graduated from Baraga High School in 1968. He married Judith Mathes on June 26, 1971 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L’Anse. He worked for Massie Manufacturing, Pettibone, and All Woods until 1974 when he went to work for Celotex Corp. where he worked for 38 years. Mike also owned Sullivan’s Corner Store. He was a former constable for Laird Twp, Laird Twp volunteer Fire Fighter, sexton for over 10 cemeteries; was a Scout leader for troop 295 Alston-Nisula; and took many scout trips. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, spending time with his grandkids and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He told great stories and loved to laugh. Mike was always willing to help someone out; he was a generous man. Surviving are his wife Judy; sons David (Stacie) Sullivan, Freddy Sullivan, and Jesse Sullivan all of Alston; daughter Ashley (Tony) Sullivan of L’Anse; brothers, Wally (Charlene) Sullivan of L’Anse, Louis (Connie) Sullivan of Alston, Jim (Brenda) Sullivan of Nisula; sister Sue Sullivan of Alston; grandchildren, Drake, Chase, Makenna, Gavin, and Troy. Preceding him in death are is parents and granddaughter Taylor Leigh Sullivan. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 18th from 11-1 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Autio officiating. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service at the L'Anse American Legion Post 144.
