Dennis Roy Olsen

Dennis Roy Olsen, age 75 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born April 26, 1942 in L’Anse son of Erling and Gertrude (Jurmu) Olsen. Dennis graduated from L’Anse High School in 1961. He was in the US Army from 1964-66 during Vietnam War. He married Joan Nelson. They lived in California for 25 plus years where he worked on a ranch in Bishop, CA, moving back in 2014. He worked at Pettibone, then Ford Forestry Center as head of maintenance, and was a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed working with heavy equipment.

Surviving are his children, Lyle (Debbie) Olsen, Tim Olsen, Bill Olsen all of L’Anse; Barb Sipe of Marquette, Tom (Kim) Bemrose of L’Anse, Linda Wolf of Louisiana, Karen Stonebraker of WI; sisters, Judy (Larry) VanLanduyt of Paradise, CA, Mary Young of Atascadero, CA, Della “Kiki” (Keith) Cheney of Harvey; Brother-in-law Jim Starkll of Bloomfield Hills, MI; grandchildren, Michael Olsen and Ryker Miles.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife Joan; siblings, Vern Olsen, Morgan Olsen, and Lori Starkel.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 26th at 11 a.m. in the Pequaming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Aura Fire Hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
