Donald Jeffrey Simula “Donnie”, age 52 of Keweenaw Bay, MI passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at his home.
He was born October 16, 1961 in Ontonagon, MI son of Donald and Arlene (Broemer) Simula. Donnie grew up in Keweenaw Bay and graduated from Baraga High School in 1979. He then attended Northern Michigan University for 2 years. He worked as a union carpenter for several years then was a welder for Koski Welding Shop in Keweenaw Bay.
Donnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid reader.
Surviving are his parents Donald and Arlene Simula of Keweenaw Bay; sisters, Mary (Calvin) Tollefson of Seymour, WI and Sally (Jeff) Olson of Marquette, MI. Also surviving are, nieces and nephews, Kimberly (Derek Storms) Tollefson, Bradley (Fiancé Candace Bain) Tollefson, Taylor, Jaime, and Isaac Olson.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Daniel Olson in July 2012.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 18 th at 1:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Alan Fluegge will officiate. A luncheon will follow in the Keweenaw Bay Fire Hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
