Edward Ray Lee, age 90 of L'Anse, MI passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Eddie was born March 21, 1923 in Superior, WI; the son of Oscar and Olga (Dorsky) Lee. He graduated from L'Anse High School in 1941 and attended MSU for Agriculture. A veteran of the US Navy, Ed participated in 11 Battles in the South Pacific during WWII while serving on the U.S.S. Colorado. Eddie married the former Dorothy 'Dot' Theriault in 1945. Employed by Cleveland Cliffs for 8 years, he later worked as a millwright for Celotex Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in 1985.

Eddie was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2287, and life member of American Legion Post 144. He was a true outdoorsman: an avid fisherman, hunter, and trapper. He was inventive, mechanically inclined, as well as a creative carpenter and fine woodworker. Always active, Ed loved everything from dancing to picking berries; and especially spending time with his grandchildren who adored him. Eddie will truly be missed by those who knew him. He was a gentle, loving person, and anyone would agree that you were a better person for having known him.

Surviving are his children, Linda (Raymond) Van Zoeren of Hart, MI; Terry (Phyllis) Lee of L'Anse; Bonnie (Terry) Westman of L'Anse; Eric LaFernier of Chicago, IL; sister Rosemary Woodward of L'Anse; a good friend Dorothy Nutini of Hancock, MI; 12 grandchildren: Rhonda (Michael) Goloversic, Amy (Wesley) VanderWilk, Carrie (Jeff) Tanner, Daniel Lee, Joseph Lee, Rebecca Lee, Wendy (Dawson) LaCasse, Curt (Esther) Westman, Dana (Greg) Sprowl, Michelle Jedra, John Jedra, Greg Jedra; 5 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife Dorothy; son David Lee; brothers Louise and George Lee.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 11th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. At 4:00 p.m., Baraga County Area Veterans will conduct military rites under the direction of American Legion Post 444. A funeral service will follow with Rev. Greg Mileski officiating, and a luncheon is scheduled for after the service. Spring burial will take place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
