Edward G Testen

Edward G Testen, age 74 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Bayside Village in L'Anse, where he had been a resident for the past 6 years.

He was born on April 29, 1934 in L'Anse and was raised on the family farm by his grandparents. On June 4, 1966 he married Judith Miilu. Edward worked on the farm and in the woods before working at Celotex, where he worked various positions before retiring in 1991.

He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and always had a smile on his face.

Edward was president of the resident council at Bayside Village, where he enjoyed selling raffle tickets. He was a member of AARP and Baragaland Senior Citizens. Edward enjoyed the outdoors, reading westerns, working crossword and word search puzzles, loved animals and watching sports on television. His favorite teams were the Detroit Lions, Detroit Redwings and Detroit Tigers. On his 73rd birthday he was sent a certificate signed by Willie Horton, saying he was the Tiger's #1 fan.

Edward is survived by his wife Judy of L'Anse; mother-in-law Martha Miilu of L'Anse; sister-in-law Joyce Taipalus of L'Anse; brother-in-law Ronald (Cassie) Miilu of Mass City, MI; aunts and uncles; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2009 from 3-5 pm and Monday and February 2nd from 12-1:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be recited on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. by Fr. George Maki. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. John Autio and Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
