Elizabeth Catherine Alatalo, age 87 of Baraga, MI passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born December 9, 1929 in Baraga, MI daughter to Joseph and Eliza (Foucault) Vizina. Elizabeth graduated from Baraga High School in 1947. She married Arvi Alatalo on July 16, 1949 in Baraga. Elizabeth was a member of St. Ann Church in Baraga. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing pinochle, cooking, and baking. She greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are her children, Karen (David) Gustafson of Midland, MI, Bob (Brenda) Alatalo of Baraga, Fred (Susie) Alatalo of Mason, MI; sister Marcella Fahlgren of Holly, MI; 4 grandchildren Ryan and Sara Gustafson, Christopher and Jessica Alatalo; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Arvi; and brother Lawrence Vizina.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 30th from 5-7:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Deacon John Cadeau will lead parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Church in Baraga with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Burial will be on Friday, May 19th at 3 p.m. in the Baraga Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to St Ann Church. The Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
