Elsie Anna (Kemppainen) Cadeau

December 3, 1921 — June 26, 2020

Elsie Anna Cadeau, age 98 a resident of Bayside Village and formerly of Alston MI passed away on June 26, 2020. Elsie also resided at Shulstad Leisure Living in Baraga for a few years after the death of her husband, Ed. .

She was born December 3, 1921 in Pelkie, MI daughter to Henry and Anna Kemppainen. Elsie grew up in Pelkie. She married Edward Cadeau on June 29, 1946 at St. Ann's Church in Baraga, MI. Elsie worked for the Laird School as a cook for about 10 years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Alston and St Ann’s Church of Baraga MI

Elsie was an excellent cook. She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, and sewing. Elsie and Ed especially enjoyed square dancing and socializing. They were always ready for a card game of pinochle. The family believes Elsie was the oldest living resident of Alston at the time of her death.
She is survived by special nieces Julie Velmer and Pat Spencer of Alston , foster son Patrick (Karen) Miron of Greenville, OH; sister-in-law Ozien George of Dousman, WI; numerous nieces and nephews from both the Kemppainen and Cadeau families.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Edward; son Gerald Cadeau; foster daughter Pearl LeRue; brothers, Wesley, Kenneth, Reino, and Leo Kemppainen; sisters, Hazel Hulkkonen, Ethel Juntunen, and Irene Savolainen.

In lieu of flowers or monetary donations the family requests donations be made to St Ann’s Church , Baraga MI

A private funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 30th at St. Ann's Church in Baraga with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
