Gale David Harkonen, 64, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in St. Petersburg, FL.
He was born in Hancock, MI to Taisto and Ethel (Maki) Harkonen on June 19, 1952. Gale went to school in L’Anse, and graduated from Northern Michigan University. He loved volunteering at the Dali Museum and St. Anthony’s Hospital.
Gale is survived by his brother, Mike (Brenda) Harkonen of Baraga and only nephew, Tyler Harkonen; one aunt, Ellen Maki of Chicago; and three uncles, Clarence and Edwin of Elo and Gerald Maki of Owasso, MI; along with many beloved cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 30th at Mission United Lutheran Church in Pelkie, with Rev. Bucky Beach officiating. Following the funeral, a luncheon will be served at the Ottawa Sportsman’s Club. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery.
