Gene Larry Sirard, age 67, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Gene was born on September 23, 1958, to Aldrick and Barbara (Brazeau) Sirard. Growing up, Gene experienced life in many parts of the country as his family traveled for construction work, shaping his strong work ethic and adaptable spirit.
He began his career working in a mine in Colorado and later in the oil fields of Oklahoma. In 1989, Gene made his home in L'Anse, Michigan, where he became a well-known member of the community. He owned and operated Sirard Superior Hair Design for 15 years and King's Kids Transport.

He was a fighter in every sense of the word, facing hardships with resilience, determination, and a deep passion for life. Even during difficult times, Gene's spirit never wavered. His sense of humor was truly remarkable-he had a way of making others laugh and lifting the spirits of those around him, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He had a deep passion for motorcycles, cars, and trucks, but above all else, he cherished time spent with his family. Whether it was sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or simply being together, those moments meant the most to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aldrick Sirard in 2022, and his first wife, Marilyn Sirard in 2018.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Cindy James Sirard of L'Anse; his children, Cory (Lindsey) Zierden of Elk River, MN, and Melissa Mae Sirard (Jalin "Jaybird" Washington) of Rockford, IL; his mother, Barbara Sirard of L'Anse; his brother, Mike (Joanne) Sirard of Duluth, MN; and his sisters, Lou (Steve Hilbert) Sirard of Darnestown, MD, Gayle (Dave Dlabal) Sirard of New York, NY, and Allison (Dan) Casey of Arnold, MD.
He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Mason, Tanner, Sydney, Alix, Paisley, Jakari, and his step-grandson, Jaxxon.
A funeral service for Gene will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home, 200 L'Anse Avenue, L'Anse, MI 49946, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will follow, and interment will take place at Baraga Cemetery.
