Georgetta Antonia Hunter, age 92 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Bayside Village in L'Anse, MI.

She was born on November 12, 1919 in St. Ignace, MI daughter of George and Isabelle (McLeod) Wixson. Georgetta graduated from St. Ignace High School in 1937. She married Reuben Hunter in 1938 in Rudyard, MI. They moved to L'Anse in 1962 where she worked at Baraga County memorial Hospital as a nurse's aide for over 20 years.

Georgetta was a member of the united Methodist church in L'Anse, and was active in the church, and was a member of Al-Anon. She enjoyed going for walks, picking berries, fishing, sewing, knitting, playing cards, reading, and volunteered at the Museum in Baraga.

Surviving are her daughters, Carol (Alfred) Colegrove of St. Ignace, MI, Debora Hunter of Missoula, MT; sister Ruth Toughy of Detroit area; six grandchildren; are 5 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Reuben Hunter; son Donald Hunter; brothers Naham Wixson, Norman Wixson; and a sister Thelma Stewart.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 22nd from 6-8 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in L'Anse with visitation for one hour prior to the service. Rev. John Henry will officiate. Burial will be in the Epoufette Cemetery in Hendricks Twp., MI. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
