Gloria M (Ellenich) Tahtinen

Gloria M. Tahtinen, age 90 of Baraga, MI passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. She was born March 9, 1926 in Pequaming, MI daughter of Joseph and Isabelle (King) Ellenich. Gloria attended school in Baraga. She married Norman Tahtinen on April 25, 1946 in Baraga. Gloria was a devote catholic and a member of St. Ann Church and a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, bingo, baking, cooking, and fishing. Surviving are her children, Sharon (Roger) Kent of Watton, Norma (Jim) Kokko of Baraga, Patrice Mayo of Baraga, JoAnn Muma of Manistee, MI, Norman Tahtinen Jr. of Baraga; daughter-in-law’s Linda Tahtinen of Watton, Carol Tahtinen of Keweenaw Bay; brothers, Joseph (Linda) Ellenich of Alston, Gary (Alicia) Ellenich of Cassopolis, MI; 12 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Norman; sons John and Darryl; sisters, Nancy Ellenich, Patricia Ellenich, Phyllis Maki, Frances Skytta; grandchildren Lee and Luke Kokko; great grandchild Tom Westman. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 28th from 12-1:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Her funeral mass will be at St. Ann Church at 1:30 p.m. with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
