Grace E. Grant, 83, of Baraga, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Bayside Village in L'Anse.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late John and Laura (Giddings) Brown. The family moved to Baraga when Grace was 3. She was a 1945 graduate of Baraga High, and she worked at the Baraga High School as a secretary for several years after graduation.

On November 1, 1952, she married Gilbert G. Grant of Alston; Gilbert passed away in June of 1997. Mrs. Grant was a member of the L'Anse United Methodist Church and was active with the UMW. She was active in the Baraga County 4-H programs for approximately 20 years, leading the Superior 4-H Club for many yearsa�"as well as being named a Master Gardener at the Baraga County 4-H Fair. Over the years, she was also active on the Baraga County Fair Board, the Baraga County Historical Society, and a member of the Red Hats. Grace loved to plan and organize family reunions.

She is survived by a son, Larry (Margaret) Grant of Clayton, WI; three daughters, Ruth (Steve) Morris of Mass City, MI, Beth (Wes) Clements of Gowen, MI, and Ellen (Geff) McDaniel of Westminster, CO; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings, Raymond Brown, Leonard Brown, and Mary Vadnais.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in L'Anse. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Rev. John Henry will officiate. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
