Gregory Scott Pyykkonen

Gregory Scott Pyykkonen, age 40 of Hancock, MI passed away accidentally as a result of a fall, on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at his home.
He was born September 20, 1974 in L’Anse, MI son of Shirley (Parkila) Wanhaaho and Bruce Pyykkonen. Greg attended L’Anse Area Schools; and grew ups attending Sunday school at St. Henry’s Church is Nisula. He worked at EconoFoods in Houghton for the past 10 years.
He was an avid reader and owned hundreds of books, loved sports and knew his statistics, and enjoyed fishing.
Surviving are his parents Shirley (Keith) Wanhaaho of Elo, Bruce (Kathryn) Pyykkonen of Lake Linden; brother Michael Pyykkonen of Kalamazoo, MI; sister Lori (Phil) Crary of Rushville, IL; niece Shelley Crary; nephew Joel Crary; great nephew Mason Irwin; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and his EconoFoods and Lakeview Manor “Families”..
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 13th at 1:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home with Rev. Judy Mattson officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow in the Sharing Room at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L’Anse is assisting the family.
