Hazel E. Schultz, 88, of L'Anse, passed away on April 22, 2005 at Bayside Village where she has been a resident for the past five years.

She was born in L'Anse on August 17, 1916, the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Ill) Kruse. She was a L'Anse High School graduate. Hazel married the late Lewis Schultz in L'Anse in 1942.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in L'Anse. Hazel enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, sewing, dancing, flower gardening and spending time with her family. Prior to her illness, Hazel spent a lot of her time working at the Senior Center.

Hazel is survived by two daughters, Lou (Herb) Tollefson and Margaret (Chris Miller) Anderson, both of L'Anse; three granddaughters, Amy (Lyle) Michaels of Harvey, Heidi (John) Darcy of L'Anse and Christine Glover of Woodbridge, VA; one great-granddaughter, Katelyn Darcy; and a sister-in-law, Signe Kruse. Her brothers, Robert, Charles, William and Frank Kruse, sisters, Alice Raymond, Marie and Elsie Kruse preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 25, 2005 in the Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Antony officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the mass in the church. Interment will take place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
