Homer R. Kristo, age 95 of L'Anse, MI passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 06, 2009 at Bayside Village in L'Anse.

He was born on November 12, 1913 in Allouez, MI son of Jacob and Amelia (Sarya) Kristo. Homer married Evelyn Auno in 1936 in Calumet. He was manager at Quality Foods in L'Anse; then owned and operated the Tog Shop clothing and shoe store in L'Anse; after that he owned a small grocery store in L'Anse for several years; and then sold insurance for World Insurance. He retired from Celotex in 1973 after working there for over 10 years.

Homer was a member of the L'Anse Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed hunting.

Surviving are his children Jeanne (Dan) Farnsworth of Curtis, MI, Kenneth (Karen) Kristo of L'Anse, and Kay (Pat) Goodreau of L'Anse; sister Rachel Marcheski of Houghton; 7 grandchildren, Scott (Stella) Farnsworth, Eric (Jennifer) Farnsworth, Tim (Krissy) Kristo, Tina (Tom) Mayo, Tracy (Vicki) Kristo, David (Wendy) Goodreau, and Daniel (Dawn) Goodreau; 23 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife Evelyn in 1987; brothers Oliver, Clifford, Clarence, and Wilbert Kristo; sisters, Gladys Haralson, Joyce Vincent, and Laila Merrila; and a great granddaughter Kelsey Mayo.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 9th at 1:00 pm at the L'Anse Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11-1:00 pm at the church. Rev. Jerry Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
