Jeane was born in Detroit on January 19, 1923, the daughter of Urba Hill and Hilda Oga. In her early years, Jeane was a superb ice skater, and throughout her life, she enjoyed reading, dancing, and traveling. She was an excellent cook, and some of her recipes were published in the Eastern Star cookbook. Jeane, who was always very particular about her appearance, delighted in shopping and always appeared in public perfectly dressed.
