John Henry Tolonen
March 25, 1958 — August 15, 2015
John “JT” Tolonen, age 57 of Harvey, MI passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at his home.
He was born March 25, 1958 in Green Bay, WI son of Donald and Myrtle (Matthews) Tolonen. JT graduated from Baraga High School in 1977 and attended Northern Michigan University and Finlandia University.
JT lived in Marquette for the past 15 years. He was a known legend and commercial fisherman on his boat “Sisckeea”. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, going to the casino, and spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his mother Myrtle Tolonen of Baraga; son Jeffrey (Jasmine Herron) Tolonen of Harvey, MI; daughters Cally and Carmen Tolonen of Harvey; special companion Mary LaRose of Marquette; stepsons, Leonard J. LaRose and Peter J. LaRose of Trenary; brother Glenn Tolonen of Zeba; sister Cheryl (Donald) Denomie of Zeba; special friend Janice Lister of Harvey; step grandchildren Peter G. LaRose, Hope M. LaRose; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His wake will start on Tuesday, August 18th at 5:00 p.m. at the KBIC Zeba Hall and continue overnight. His traditional funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19th at the Zeba Hall. Burial will be in the Pinery Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family..
