Julie Furaitar

Julie Starr Furaitar, age 60, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026. She was born on September 5, 1965.

Julie was a quiet, gentle soul who found joy in the simple things in life. She was a devoted attendee of L'Anse Baptist Church and spent much of her time reading, studying the Bible, and deepening her faith. Julie enjoyed making jewelry, going for walks, and being at home, where she felt most comfortable and content. Known as a homebody, she cherished peaceful moments and the comfort of familiar surroundings. Throughout her life, she worked various cleaning jobs and took pride in her hard work and reliability.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Roger Furaitar, and her brother, Todd Knapp.

She is survived by her loving mother, Pauline (Furaitar) Knapp of Baraga, Michigan; her son, Ryan DeCota of L'Anse, Michigan; her daughters, Mariah (Matthew Revord) Furaitar of L'Anse, Michigan, and LeeAnne Furaitor of Oklahoma; her sisters, Kimberly Knapp of Houghton, Michigan, and Jodie Furaitar of Houghton, Michigan; her grandchildren, Kiera DeCota-Dix, Derek DeCota-Dix, and Kaylah DeCota-Dix; and her great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jonathon, and Trenton.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring when the weather is warmer. Details will be announced at a later time.
