June Marie (Bessett) Sullivan, age 94, of L'Anse, Michigan, passed away surrounded by love on May 7, 2026. She was born on June 8, 1931, to Herman and Vivian Bessett.
On July 22, 1948, June married the love of her life, Robert Sullivan, and together they built a life centered around faith, family, and love.
June was a woman who devoted her life to caring for others. She was an incredible cook and homemaker, often preparing meals for as many as 20 young children in the family home, which was located where the L'Anse Furniture Mart Warehouse now stands. Her kitchen was always full of warmth, laughter, and love.
June worked at Celotex for 20 years until her retirement, where she was known for doing a little bit of everything and always lending a helping hand. She had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room and was known for her quick wit and playful spirit.
A devout Catholic, June faithfully attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L'Anse. She especially cherished her Sunday Mass outings with her dear friend, Julie Grafton, who lovingly accompanied her each week.
June enjoyed playing bingo, visiting the casino - at least until "the slot machines got too tight together" - and, most of all, spending time with her family whom she loved deeply.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Sullivan of L'Anse, MI, Robert Sullivan of Milwaukee, WI, Max (Marian) Sullivan of Florence, WI, and Jerri Lynn Thomas of Prior Lake, MN; her step-son, Bill Chartier; her special friend, Julie Grafton; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with one more precious great-grandchild on the way.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sullivan; parents; siblings; son-in-law, Lawrence Thomas; and her special dog, Cocoa.
In honoring June's wishes, a private family burial will take place.
Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
