Karl Jon Mervar

Karl Jon Mervar, age 48 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Bayside Village in L'Anse following a long and courageous battle against Huntington's disease.

Karl was born September 16, 1961 in L'Anse, MI son of Frank and June (Maki) Mervar. He graduated from L'Anse High School. Karl was previously employed by Northern Tool and Engineering. In 1989 he met Jane Mukka and they were married March 5th 1997.

Karl was a loving husband, father, son and brother. Family was always first and he taught his girls how to be beautiful from the inside out. Karl was always willing to help others he could fix practically anything. Karl loved to be outside doing things like hunting, fishing, taking a ride out in the woods and picking apples. He was also known for his famous pickles that he would make for anyone who asked.

Surviving are his wife Jane of L'Anse; daughters, Karisa Mukka, Erica (Zack) McDonald, and Jacey Mukka all of L'Anse; brother Kevin (Mary) Mervar and nephew Isaiah of L'Anse; sister Kris (Rodney) Piper and niece Janine and nephew Greg of Sagola; niece Jamiee Howes; step mother Annette Mervar of L'Anse; step sisters, Cari McMahon of Baraga, April McMahon, Amy (James) Stein, and Diane Gallagher all of L'Anse; step brother Jay McMahon of Baraga;and their families, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding him in death his daughter Karli Mukka on Feb. 16, 2010, his parents; brothers Frank J and Kurt Mervar and step brother James McMahon. A memorial service will be held in the near future. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
