Kelly Ann Mankee, age 67, of Baraga, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at U.P. Health System-Marquette, with her family by her side.

Kelly was born on August 31, 1958, in Marquette, the daughter of Edwin and Beverly (Lafave) Smith. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1976. On September 20, 1980, she married the love of her life, Donald Mankee, in Marquette. Together they lived in Casper, Wyoming, and Ord, Nebraska, before returning to Michigan in 1989.

Kelly worked for the Village of Baraga office and later spent 23 years in the accounting department with the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, retiring in 2022. She was known for her dedication and kindness to those she worked with throughout the years.

In her free time, Kelly enjoyed watching movies, reading, and listening to music. Above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Mankee of Baraga; children, Jennifer (Frank) Fadenholz of Bolingbrook, IL, Sarah (Jeremy) Misale of Wakefield, MI, and Donald E. (Erin) Mankee of Humboldt, MI; grandchildren, Tyler, Lydia, Rachael, and Nathan Fadenholz, and Donald J. and Andrew Mankee; brother, Guy (Linda) Smith of Harvey, MI; and sister, Debra Smith of Marquette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Beverly Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with burial in the Baraga Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
