Kerry Sue Duis, age 57, of Baraga, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

She was born on January 24, 1969, in Gwinn, Michigan, to Frederick and Wanda (Schroeder) Horrocks. Kerry was a graduate of Marquette High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University.

Kerry dedicated her career to serving others. She worked for seven years at the Baraga Maximum Security Prison before spending more than 20 years with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Most recently, she served as the Coordinator for Baraga County Community That Cares, where she was committed to supporting and strengthening her community.

On July 20, 2020, Kerry married the love of her life, Fred Duis. Together they shared a wonderful life built on love and companionship. In her free time, Kerry found joy in photography, gardening, and painting, expressing her creativity through the beauty she captured and created.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Fred Duis of Baraga; her daughters, Marleigh Sherbinow of Marquette and Madeline Sherbinow of Skandia; her brothers, Fritz (Billie Jean) Horrocks of Arnold, Michigan, and Kenneth (Elizabeth) Horrocks of Duluth, Minnesota; her sister, Debra (Bruce) Slobodnick of Chisholm, Minnesota; and her cherished grandchildren, Micah and Ziras Pallas.

A Celebration of Life was held in Marquette, Michigan.
