Lawrence Wayne Kahkonen

Lawrence "Larry" Kahkonen 84 of Chassell, Michigan formerly of L'Anse passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. He was born on August 2, 1941 in Pequaming Michigan to Waino and Marie (Brunet) Kahkonen. Larry grew up with a strong work ethic and a love for hunting and fishing that followed him throughout his life.

Larry was an entrepreneur and creative fabricator who could make anything he needed. He worked for Pettibone as a welder and later he owned and operated Kahkonen Excavating and Kahkonen Construction. He was successful in starting several businesses throughout his lifetime and he loved to work.

He is survived by his children: Tracy (Lyle) Kahkonen-Olsen, Terrence (Suzanne) Kahkonen, and Pauline "Polly" (Brady) Schaefer; his grandchildren: Terrance Cranford, Rachel Lamson, Annie Fish, Ashtin Salli, Keegin Kahkonen, Kamrin Kahkonen, Eli Schaefer, and Milo Schaefer; along with eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Daust and Barbara Boyer. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Coyne; his brother, Karl Kahkonen; and his brothers-in-law, Tony Boyer and Pat Daust.

Larry had a free-spirit. He lived life on his own terms and left a lasting impression with everyone he met!

Visitation will take place on Wednesday November 26th, 2025 at 10:00AM at Jacobson Funeral Home with a Funeral Service following at 11:00am with Pastor Aaron Lindholm officiating.
