Leona Marie Jahfetson, age 92 of Baraga, MI passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Bayside Village in L'Anse.
She was born March 3, 1921 in Pelkie, MI daughter to Jacob and Hilda (Raja) Haka. Leona married Wilhart Jahfetson on June 26, 1948 in Pelkie, MI. She enjoyed her hobby farm, flower beds, and cooking.
Surviving are her children, Roger (Barbara) Jahfetson of Baraga, JoAnn (Richard) Juntunen of Marquette, Mary Karkanen of Chassell, Jacob (Elaine) Jahfetson of Keweenaw Bay, Jane (Keith) Paulson of Nisula, Brenda (Mike) Harkonen of Baraga; Grandchildren, Becki (Jerry) Hoult, Roger (Heather) Jahfetson, Steve (Dawn) Jahfetson, Donald and Eric Tauriainen, Tiffany Karkanen (Chris Reavill), Erin (Jim) Peterson, Krystal (Darin) Tollefson, Amanda (Craig) Putala, Todd Paulson, Tyler Harkonen, Sara (Jim) Tembreull, Wendy Rogers, Karen (Craig) Palosaari, Tricia (Ryan) Bates, Jackie, Jason, David Jahfetson; 31 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Wilhart on July 16, 2013; grandson, Jerry Juntunen; son-in-laws, Donald Tauriainen and James Karkanen; 5 brothers, Wilbert, Waino, Wesley, Wilho, and Raymond Haka; and 2 sisters, Thelma and Bertha.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, September 16th at 1:00 p.m. at the Mission United Lutheran Church with Rev. John Autio officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
