Leona E. Janda, age 97 of Skanee, MI passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at her home.
She was born May 5, 1916 in Bowler, WI daughter to Fred and Elizabeth (Schenk) Bartelme. She married Joseph Janda on October 5, 1940. They moved to Skanee in 1946.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aide, Skanee Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Arvon Township Historical Society, and Baragaland Senior Citizens. Leona was the Arvon Twp. Clerk for a few years. She loved cooking, quilting, and gardening.
Surviving are her sons, David (Jenny) Janda and Bob (Cathy) Janda both of Skanee; grandchildren, Tim (Sarah) Janda of Marquette and Michelle Janda (Matty Plotkin) of Wauwautosa, WI; 2 great grandchildren, Dorothy Mae and Edward Joseph; and a niece and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband; parents; and her sister Lillie Holm.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee with Rev. Judy Mattson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Skanee Cemetery. A luncheon and fellowship will follow at the church. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
