Leonard Charles LeClaire
April 6, 1953 — July 21, 2016
Leonard C. LeClaire, of Baraga, MI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at UP Health System-Marquette.
He was born on April 6, 1953 in L’Anse, MI son of Melford and Rita (Miron) LeClaire. Leonard attended school in Baraga and was a lifelong resident of Baraga. He worked as a mechanic at Martin’s Gas Station and Pettibone. Leonard loved to shop and go for rides. He was a quiet, gentle man and loved his family.
Surviving are his brother Paul LeClaire of Baraga; sisters, Mary Glover of Palmdale, CA, Joanne LeClaire of Baraga, Carol Hamacher of L’Anse, twin sister Lorraine Maki of L’Anse; brothers-in-law Richard Hiltunen and Lance Heikkinen; sister-in-law Carol LeClaire; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Joe, Peter, Jim, Doug; sisters Charlene Hiltunen, Kathryn Heikkinen; bothers-in-law Steward Hamacher, Gary Glover, and Raymond Maki.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Baraga Cemetery with Deacon John Cadeau officiating. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L’Anse is assisting the family.
