Martha K. Wedlake
June 18, 1912 — May 3, 2008
Martha K. Wedlake, age 95, of L'Anse, MI passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 18, 1912 in South Range, a daughter of the late Sakari and Sophia (Hepo Oja) Olkkonen.
Martha was a bookkeeper at Montgomery Wards in Chicago, IL. Following her retirement she shared her love of music while doing programs on the keyboard at the Bayside Village in L'Anse.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Wedlake, brother Aarne Olkkonen, sisters Aino Hill and Kerttu-Robin Rintala and nephew John Hill of Skanee.
She is survived by her daughter Lore Bigelow of Texas; granddaughters Virginia (Leonard) Dexter and family of Cocoa, FL; Susan (Raymond) Reasner of Rose City, MI; and Charmaine (Randy) Beers and great grand daughters Shannon, Charlene and Kasey of Waco, TX. Family members include Darlene Hill of Skanee, Joan Hill of L'Anse, Patricia (Henry) Clow of Aura and Arthur Hill of California. A special thank you to her nephew Dr. Karl Hill and his daughter Jean Hill for enabling her to remain comfortably at home until her time to pass on.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Internment will take place at the South Range Cemetery, South Range, MI.
