Mary Grace Geroux, age 59, of Baraga, MI passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Portage Health System in Hancock, MI.
Mary was born November 12, 1952 in L'Anse, MI to Archie and Margaret (Shelifoe) Knapp. She grew up in L'Anse and attended L'Anse High School. Mary married George Geroux on August 28, 1982 in Baraga, MI. She worked at the Ojibwa Casino for 9 years doing maintenance and cleaning and then for the Village of Baraga for 11 years; retiring in 2009.
She enjoyed her family and friends and helped to raise many kids. She also enjoyed spending birthdays with her sisters and gambling at the casino with her husband/friends and family. Mary liked to work in the yard and her garden and was an avid Packer and NASCAR fan.
Surviving are her husband George Geroux of Baraga; son Steven Geroux of Baraga; daughters, Casey (Steven) Barnhard of Dorr, MI, Teri DeCota of Baraga, Nicole Geroux of Baraga, Amber (Anthony Danielson) Geroux of Baraga; two sisters, Brenda McKittrick of Baraga and Margaret Knapp of Covington; five grandchildren, Holly, Rebecca, and Megan Barnhard, Christian Hakola, Kara Hazen, and Phillip Edwards Jr.
Preceding her in death are her parents Archie and Margaret Knapp, grandson Michael Barnhard; brothers, Archie "Chico" Jr., "Sonny", Wallace, William "Teeny", and John Knapp; sisters, Louella Wood and Nancy Haataja..
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 18th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. John Longbucco officiating. A luncheon and fellowship will follow at the American Legion in Baraga.
