Maxine "Max" Eleanor Clishe, age 90 of Skanee, Michigan passed away on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Bayside Village in L'Anse, MI.

She was born September 20, 1918 in Elcho, WI the oldest daughter of the late Curtis C. and Elizabeth (Wilson) McCandless. Maxine moved to Pequaming, MI at a young age and graduated from L'Anse High School 1936. She married Albert Clishe on April 30, 1941 in L'Anse. They moved into the house they built on Roland Lake in the spring of 1948. Maxine worked as a clerk and bookkeeper for many years.

Maxine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee, WELCA, Historical Society in Skanee, and Skanee Fireman's Auxiliary. She served on the Arvon Township School Board from 1956 until 1983; and the Copper Country Intermediate School Board from 1964 until 1983. She enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and card playing.

Surviving are her three sons, Allen (Barbara) Clishe of Skanee, Daniel (Alice) Clishe of Baraga, Gerald (Michelle) Clishe of Traverse City, MI; 8 grandchildren, Gayle (Travis) Lindenberg, Joel (Jami) Clishe, Danielle (Jeff) Colombe, Jamie Clishe, Curtis, Aaron, Bryan, Nathan Clishe; and six great grandchildren, Felicity, Brittiney, and Toby Lias, Connor and Reid Lindenberg, and Grace Clishe.

Preceded her in death are her husband Bert; and sister Virginia Mary Taylor, Winifred Janice Coates; grandson Joseph Clishe; granddaughters, Ashley and Nichole Clishe.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 25th at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the Skanee Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
