Nancy Jean Byrge, 64, of L'Anse, Michigan, passed away at home on Monday, September 28, 2026, with her husband by her side.

Nancy was born on July 17, 1962, in Dearborn, Michigan, to John Paul and Ruth (Lescelius) Lampela. She attended Lutheran grade school and graduated from Northville High School in 1980. She later attended Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan.

Nancy married Robin Byrge on June 4, 1983, in Northville. They enjoyed traveling together and attending plays.

Nancy built a long career in horse racing, beginning as a charter at Northville Downs. She went on to serve as program director, race secretary assistant, and race secretary and program director before retiring as director of racing with Running Horses in Minnesota. She moved to L'Anse in 2015.

She is survived by her husband, Robin; her brothers, Bruce (Lisa) Lampela, Paul (Traci) Lampela II, and Eric (Brenda) Lampela; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary Lampela.

At Nancy's request, there will be no funeral service. Burial will take place at Keweenaw Bay Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the famil
