Pauline Emma Wreesman

Pauline Emma Wreesman, age 94 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, Skilled Nursing Unit.

Pauline was born October 10, 1915 in Skanee, MI to Daniel and Emma (Nelson) Newman. She graduated from Skanee School and attended City College in Detroit for Beauty School. Pauline married Albert Stefanich in 1940 and they lived in Ontonagon, MI. Albert was Sheriff of Ontonagon County when he died in 1951, and Pauline finished his term of office as County Sheriff through 1954. She later married Harry Wreesman; and they lived first in Ontonagon and then in Kenosha, WI. Pauline owned and managed a religious goods store for a time in Kenosha, and was active in religious and civic organizations in the community. Following Harry's retirement from American Motors Corporation, they moved back to Skanee in 1993. Pauline later lived at Shultstad's Leisure Living, and most recently at the SNU at BCMH. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Pauline had a lovely voice and enjoyed singing. She was an avid gardener.

Surviving are her son Daniel (Valerie) Stefanich of Milwaukee, WI, grandson Andrew and granddaughter Megan. Preceding her in death are her parents, Daniel and Emma (Nelson) Newman; husband Albert Stefanich and husband Harry Wreesman.

The family would like to thank Howard Mattson and his wife Judy for capably managing her affairs and advocating for her interests, and the staff at Shultstad's Leisure Living and BCMH Skilled Nursing Unit for their gracious, thoughtful, and compassionate care of Pauline.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 2nd at 11:00 am at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Fr. John Longbucco will officiate. Burial will be in the Skanee Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is handling arrangements.
