Obituary

Peter Paul Jaukkuri Sr., 72, of Baraga, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026, with family by his side.

Born on April 26, 1954, to Paul and Melvina Jaukkuri, Peter was a hardworking, independent man who lived life on his own terms.

Peter dedicated 22 years of his life to working as a counselor at New Day Treatment Center before retiring. Throughout his career, he helped guide and support others, leaving a lasting impact on many of the people whose paths crossed his.

Outside of work, Peter enjoyed the simple things in life. He had a love for fishing and hunting and appreciated any opportunity to spend time outdoors. He was always finding something to tinker with, whether it was fixing something, working on a project, or simply keeping himself busy.

Those who knew Peter knew he was a man of strong opinions and an even stronger will. He had his own way of doing things, and convincing him otherwise wasn't always an easy task. But behind that stubborn streak was a man who genuinely cared about others. He wasn't one for grand gestures or sentimental words, but he had a way of showing he cared that was entirely his own. When it came to the people who mattered to him, his loyalty ran deep, and he loved fiercely, even if he didn't always say it.

Peter is survived by his children, Danielle (Jaukkuri) Madosh, Peter Jaukkuri Jr., Joseph Jaukkuri, Elizabeth Jaukkuri, and Elizabeth Minnick; his siblings, Pauline (Jaukkuri) Beck, Miina (Richard) Holappa, and Sam (Elaine) Jaukkuri; along with several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Melvina Jaukkuri; his brother, David Jaukkuri; and his son, Jesse Jaukkuri.

In accordance with Peter's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A burial will take place on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Assinins.

Peter leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, and moments that those who knew him will carry with them. He was one of a kind, and those who knew him best wouldn't have had him any other way. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Rest peacefully, Dad. Your work here is done, but your love will remain with us always. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.
