Randal (Knute) Roy Rock

Randal Roy (Knute) Rock, age 56 of Baraga, MI passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at his home.

Randal was born on October 2, 1956 in L'Anse, MI son to John and Lorraine (Kemppainen) Rock. He attended Baraga Schools, graduating in 1974. Throughout the years, he drove truck for North American Van Lines, worked as a painter/carpenter, worked for Tribal Construction, and Tangen Welding.

Affectionately known as "Knute" he was a lifelong Yooper who loved fishing, hunting and the outdoors; finding peace at Camp Nunica. And in earlier years enjoyed going to the Michigan Speedway with friends. Knute was an avid reader of UP history and American history, among other things. He enjoyed prior time spent with his K9 companion, Precious.

He is survived by siblings, Diane Rock of Las Vegas, Karen Keranen of Negaunee, Larry Rock of Baraga, Debra Rock of Jackson; nieces and nephews, Jacki Campagnola, Paul Mayo, David Mayo, Angela DuShane, Eric Keranen, Annie, Ryan, and Derek (Rock) Tammelin, Jacob Silvis, Amber McBride, Dale McBride Jr.; Aunt Bernice Rock, Uncle Roy Kemppainen; many good friends; Big Joe, who supplied Knute with reading material; special lifelong friend, Paul LeClaire; special cousins and their children.

Preceding him in death are his parents and his brother Brian Rock.

At his request, cremation will take place and a celebration of his life will be announced for a future date. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
