Richard “Dick” Eugene Sanford Sr., age 81 of Sidnaw, MI passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at his home with his family at his side.
Dick was born March 19, 1934 in Girard, MI son of Ned and Ethel (Clark) Sanford. He attended school in Colon, MI. Dick married the former Joy Hershey on January 7, 1961 in Chicago. They resided in White Pigeon, MI where he worked as a printing pressman at Americraft for over 35 years, retiring in 1998. He and his wife moved to Sidnaw in 2003.
He was a reserved police officer and volunteer fireman in White Pigeon. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and golfing.
Surviving are his wife Joy of Sidnaw; sons, Richard Jr. of Burr Oak, MI, Ron (Peggy) of Mendon, MI, Richard Wayne of Sidnaw, James of Sturgis, MI; daughters Debra Sanford of Bloomindale, MI, Darlene Sanford Trine of Mottville, MI, Karen (Glen) Schmidt of White Pigeon; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Milton and Marshall; sisters, Leatha Arney, Shirley Wright, and Wanda Wilson.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 23rd from 10-11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Rhoades officiating. Burial will be in the Sidnaw Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L’Anse is assisting the family.
