Robert Eugene Bennett, age 89 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Bayside Village in L'Anse.
He was born July 16, 1926 in Battle Creek, MI son of Leroy and Bertha Bennett. Robert served in the US Army during WWII. He married Dorothy Jean Charter on November 16, 1946 in St. Johns, MI. He worked as a head manager for Post Cereals. In 1992 they moved to L'Anse.
Robert was a member of the American Legion Post 444 and the VFW Post 3897. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and camping.
Surviving are his sons, Robert L. (Dorothy) Bennett of Baldwin, MI and James D. (Debra) Bennett of L'Anse, MI; brother Richard (Mary)Bennett of Florida; sister Beatrice (Dale) St. Claire of Battle Creek, MI; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.
Preceding in death are his parents; wife Dorothy; brothers Linton and Willard Bennett; sister Ella Mae VanGelder; and 2 great grandsons.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5th from 10-11 a.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home with Rev. Judy Mattson officiating. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery with Baraga County Area Veterans conducting military honors under the direction of American Legion Post 444.
