Ronald J. “Mike” Duguay, age 81 of L’Anse, MI died on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.

Mike was born February 4, 1936 in L’Anse, MI son of Ronald and Grace (Watters) Duguay. He attended school in L’Anse prior to going into the US Army in 1958. After serving our county he worked in Alaska for a while and various other places with the Upper Peninsula Plumbers’ and Pipefitters’ Union. Upon retirement, he lived in L’Anse.

Mike liked to work in the woods, cutting trees, and being outdoors. He was an athlete and played sports all his life, and was on the Army basketball and ping pong teams, and enjoyed snowmobiling. Mike did things his way, right or wrong.

Surviving are his son Michael Duguay of Nashville, TN; daughter Sarah Duguay of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; siblings, Brian (Joan) Duguay of Brighton, MI, Jerry (Kathy) Michaelson of Hubbell, MI, Donald Michaelson of L’Anse, Kathy (Jerry) Hietala of Northville, MI; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pat Duguay and an infant Mark Michaelson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 19th from 10-11:00 a.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Deacon John Cadeau officiating. Burial will be in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery with the Baraga County Veterans conducting military rites under the direction of the American Legion Post 444. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Post 144 in L’Anse.
