Signe I. Koski

Signe I. Koski, age 88 of Aura, Michigan passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Bayside Village in L'Anse, MI.
She was born on September 24, 1922 in Aura, daughter of Matt and Sophia (Haapalehto) Toyras. Signe attended school in Aura, Pequaming, and L'Anse. She married Norman Koski in 1942 in Temple, Texas and then lived in Indiana until 1946 when they moved back to Aura.
Signe was a member of the Aura Lutheran Church and the United Lutheran Church in L'Anse, and the Aura Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, gardening, home making, shopping, and dining. She especially loved being with her family and enjoyed being with people.
Surviving are her son Douglas Koski of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughter Patricia Stein of Aura; brother, Helmer (Pearl) Toyras of Aura; sister Sylvia Nelson of Skanee, MI; grand daughter Erin (Dan) Rovedo of Spread Eagle, WI; great granddaughter Ella Marie Rovedo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death are her husband Norman Koski; brother, Matt A. Toyras; sisters, Helga Franciskovich, Hulda Kokko, Hilda Saari, Helvie Gorinac, Gertrude Elmblad, and Siiri Ollila; and half brother Arthur Haapalehto..
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. at the Aura Lutheran Church. Rev. Judy Mattson will officiate. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Aura Cemetery. A luncheon and fellowship will follow at the Aura Fire Hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is in charge of arrangements.
