Steven Joseph Monkiewicz

Mr. Steven Monkiewicz, age 75, passed away on December 15, 2025. He was born on July 20, 1950, and lived a life guided by curiosity, creativity, and a deep appreciation for both sound and nature.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Monkiewicz and Donna Monkiewicz (Cichy), and by his brother, Thomas Monkiewicz.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Koryciak; his nephew, Jason Cox and his wife Loretta, and their children Rachel (Kisley), Amanda, and Sara; his niece, Jacquelyn Smith and her husband Eric, and their children Caitlyn, Austin, and Addisyn; and his great-grand niece and nephew, Maddox and Emery.

Steven had a lifelong passion for radio and spent many years doing what he loved, working for several Detroit-area radio stations including WXYZ, WABX, WRIF, WLLZ, and W4. His work reflected both his technical skill and his love for connecting people through sound and storytelling.

Outside of radio, Steven found peace and joy along the shores of Lake Superior. He cherished the lake's beauty and rhythm, often taking daily walks along the water, finding comfort in the waves and the ever-changing horizon.

In accordance with Steven's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Those who wish to honor his memory are invited to listen to the waves, watch the water, and think of Steven.
