Theresia Louise Whitman, age 44 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital.

Theresia was born April 10, 1970 in L’Anse, MI daughter to Joseph and Margaret (Spritzley) Mleko. She graduated from Baraga High School in 1988 and attended Michigan Tech University. She married Daniel Whitman on September 3, 1994; they just celebrated their 20th Anniversary. Dan knew Theresia was the one for him because she was always happy receiving power tools as a gift.

Theresia worked many jobs around the area, and had been working as a custodian for Michigan Tech University for nearly the last decade. She worked at the Whirl-a-gig and really enjoyed her time there. Halloween was her favorite holiday; she loved making costumes and dressing up. Theresia loved sewing, crafts, and had a variety of talents; she could make anything and fix anything. She also loved gardening and flowers, and her big thunderstorms.

Surviving are her husband Daniel Whitman of L’Anse; her daughters, Jacqueline and Jessica Walitalo both of L’Anse; parents, Joseph and Margaret Mleko of Baraga; siblings, Stephen (Debbie) Mleko of Marquette, Thomas Mleko of Pelkie, Kevin Mleko of Pelkie, Jennifer Mleko of Baraga, Paul (Stacey) Mleko of Minocqua, WI; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 11th from 5-7:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Deacon John Cadeau will lead the rosary at 6:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Baraga with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. A luncheon and fellowship will follow in the church hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
