Virginia B. Perry

Virginia B. Perry, age 91, of L'Anse, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 10, 1934, in Salem Township, Ohio, the daughter of Albert and Dorthy (England) Fooce. Virginia graduated from Monroe High School in Plumwood, Ohio, with the Class of 1952. On January 11, 1956, she married Richard Perry in Ohio. In 1958, they moved to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, first settling in Munising before making their home in Baraga County in 1962.

Virginia worked as a CNA at Winkler's Nursing Home and in Home Healthcare before joining Celotex, where she was employed for 20 years until her retirement in 2000.

She was known for her strong will and love of the outdoors. Whether peeling pulp, picking berries, mowing her lawn, or even clearing snow from her own roof, Virginia was determined to remain independent and active. Summers often found her on her brother Dave's farm helping with haying or tending to chores outdoors. Above all, she cherished caring for her family, spending countless hours babysitting her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, whom she lovingly called "her babies."

She is survived by her children: Sandra Yaniskavis of Ontonagon, MI; Paul (Heather) Perry of Aura, MI; Wanda Ladd of L'Anse, MI; Marcia Thomas of L'Anse, MI; Brady (Stephanie) Perry of Aura, MI; Wynona Stabenow of Detroit, MI; and May (Jack) Clark of Zephyrhills, FL. She also leaves behind her brother Don Fooce of Plumwood, OH; sister Bonnie Huff of Florida; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Perry; brothers Dave, Bill, and Mike Fooce; sister Betty Frazell; and five grandchildren.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at her home at a later date. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
