Wanda Jean Seppanen, age 66 of Baraga, MI passed away on Friday, September 9th, 2022 at U.P. Health System Marquette, Michigan.
She was born April 11, 1956 in Zeba, MI daughter of Waino and Eleanor (Spruce) Seppanen. Wanda graduated from L'Anse High School in 1974, then attended Suomi College and Northern Michigan University where she received a bachelor's degree in social services. She worked as a domestic violence advocate for KBIC for about 18 years, retiring earlier this year.
Wanda was a member of KBIC and Ojibwa Seniors. She was an artist and enjoyed gardening, traveling. and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her grandchildren, Taylor Kemppainen and Isaac Rajala of Marquette, Oliver and Emilia Kemppainen of Charlotte, NC; son-in-law Daniel Rajala of Marquette; daughter-in-law Allison Kemppainen of Charlotte, NC; siblings, Ronald (Elizabeth) Spruce and John (Carol) Seppanen of L'Anse, William Seppanen and Dorothy Stephens of Baraga, and Joe (Mia) Eckenberg of Zeba, MI.
Preceding her in death are her parents Waino and Eleanor; daughter Candice Rajala; son Brian Kemppainen; brothers, Robert and Roger Seppanen.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 26th from 11-1:00 p.m. at the KBIC Zeba Hall. A traditional native service will be held at 1:00 p.m. led by Paul Halverson. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
